Post-a-Ride

I would be more concerned about riding through the fog of a cropduster, which I have done on a few occasions.

Corrie,

Riding 65 miles in thin smoke from a far away fire is nothing compared to what wildland firefighters breath every day for weeks on end. You should have no problems unless you have COPD or asthma. I could bring my Albuterol inhaler if you need it.

At my house in Pullman it isn’t bad, but elsewhere, even in Pullman, the smoke is noticeable. Colfax seemed worse this morning (9:30 AM), not quite as bad this afternoon around 3 PM when I came back through. The breeze keeps moving the smoke around so it really is a variable. Strong winds forecast for the Palouse tomorrow (13 mph from west, gusting to 20+) Red flag alert for winds and visibility, also an air quality alert, both for tomorrow.

What's the status of air quality on the Palouse? My throat burned when I went out at 1 today and my eyes watered during my ride this morning.

Also Trib reports potlatch days going on with a parade about the time we arrive. We by passed the parade by pushing up a dirt road  once.

Last year we just beat the parade, we were actually the lead group, which as I remember confused some people.
You can taste the smoke in the air here. Not oppressive, but it is certainly there.
